Configuration and Security
Essential software for securely browsing the web:
- anti-virus software;
- a firewall.
For added assurance, we also recommend that you use anti-spyware software, which will protect you against most spywares. Spyware is malicious software which collects information concerning your configuration, your usual email address and your on-line browsing habits and sends it to third parties.
Lastly, an anti-spam filter is recommended to minimise unsolicited emails. Such emails are often described as "spam".
Such devices may be offered by Internet Service Providers (ISP). Do not hesitate to contact your ISP for further information.

Is your computer properly protected?
It is advisable to set up a password to access your computer.
It is advisable to regularly check all your software versions, particularly:
- Your operating system (e.g. Windows, Mac OSX)
- your web browser;
- your antivirus software;
- your firewall;
- your anti-spyware.
Your antivirus software, firewall and anti-spyware usually have buttons for quick, easy updates which are free of charge. It is highly recommended that you do an update every week and check that it has completed, including for automatic updates.
Apart from regular updates, we recommend that you run a complete virus and spyware scan on your computer at least once a week. These scans are often configured by default but you can increase their frequency by configuring your software. For more information, refer to your software documentation.
Only browsers with SSL256 bit data encryption will work in your Client Area.
